As the founder and designer, I, Kim Young, created KimYoung in 2023 as a clothing and lifestyle brand for luxury womenswear. I want to create beautiful clothing for women, offering a sophisticated look and lifestyle that reflects the duality of driven, independent women who embrace a sweet, hyper-feminine aesthetic~

Based in NYC, KimYoung designs and manufactures all of its garments in the U.S.A. I love designing and sewing, as well as exploring the moods and feelings that fashion evokes I want to celebrate and share these moods with women through my designs.

The word "Duality" encompasses the KimYoung’s image, signature look, and values. Featuring a color scheme of pale pink and black, the sharp contrast is central to the brand’s duality.

For KimYoung, I chose the colors pale pink and black because, despite their contrasting natures, they ultimately complement one another. Black is a practical, safe, and comforting color. It’s the darkest neutral that goes with anything. In contrast, pale pink is vivacious and bold. It’s desaturated yet derived from the warmest of colors: red. Together, the darkest neutral and the lightest vivid combine to form an alluring and beautiful contrast.

I created KimYoung’s style and image based on a contrasting pale pink and black color palette, feminine 50s/60s Americana silhouettes, and edgy, modern detailing. It balances vintage femininity with modern edginess. The overall look is like being a rose with thorns, representing KimYoung’s “feminine with an edge” philosophy~
